Six mineworkers have been stranded amid heavy snow in the Kunlun Mountains in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, where the risks of hypothermia and altitude sickness are high, CCTV reported on Wednesday.
The workers have been trapped in Minfeng county, at an altitude of 5,500 meters, for the past four days, after the road was blocked by heavy snowfall and their car broke down.
According to the last recorded telephone call with the workers, three of them had severe altitude sickness and their food and drinking water supplies were running very low.
As of Wednesday, two ground rescue teams had been dispatched to the area.
