Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province has restored 4,530 hectares of wetland in seven years, according to the city's agricultural commission.
Lu Xiaohe, deputy director of the commission, told Jiangsu news website jschina.com.cn that Wuxi has launched 30 major programs to restore the wetland, including converting farmland to wetland, planting aquatic plants and stocking fish.
Five more programs will also be launched in the next two years, Lu said.
Every year, more than 6 million people visit Wuxi's Lihu National Wetland Park, which is built on one of the restored wetlands, according to the park's management bureau.
