A father in Yingkou, Liaoning province, bought a kindergarten for 10 million yuan ($1.63 million) in an attempt to give his daughter the best environment for her education, Huashang Morning News reported on Friday.
Businessman Yu Jiayong (whose real name Huashang Morning news would not reveal) had been sending his 4-year-old daughter to a kindergarten, but he was dissatisfied with the school. He later found another kindergarten that he was satisfied with. He paid more than 10 million yuan to buy the kindergarten and added facilities and equipment.
"I bought the kindergarten partly for my daughter and partly as an investment because I have some money on hand," Yu said.
A mother surnamed Xu, whose 5-year-old daughter also goes to the kindergarten, said she was happy when she found out that new facilities were added to the school. She said the school also now has better teachers.
Other parents said conditions have improved at the school while others thought that Yu's 4-year-old daughter might not work and study hard because her father is the school's owner.
The owner of a small kindergarten in the city, whose surname is Li, said her daughter had been attending her kindergarten but was difficult to control in school. She said because teachers knew she owned the school, they gave her daughter preferential treatment, which led to bad habits. She said she had to send her daughter to another kindergarten to help correct her daughter's habits.
Liu Yu, an educational expert in Shenyang, capital of Liaoning province, said all parents should do things that follow the regular course of their children's education, especially when their children are young.
