US urged to respect China's interests in Asia-Pacific

BEIJING - China welcomes the United States to play a constructive role in the Asia-Pacific region and hopes it will also respect China's interests and concerns, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said here Tuesday.

"I believe all sides concerned should devote their efforts to the region's peace, stability and prosperity," Yang told a press conference held on the sidelines of the annual parliamentary session.
