SHANGHAI - Five people died on Wednesday after two fires engulfed an auto parts shop and a mattress warehouse, respectively, in Shanghai, local authorities said.

Both fires took place in the early morning. Three people were killed in the shop blaze, while two workers were killed in the warehouse fire, police said.

Police are investigating the causes of the fires.
