NANNING- China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin has called for more efforts to promote social stability and relatively fast economic development.
Wisdom and strength should be gathered to push forward the strategic economic restructuring, deepen opening up and reform and strengthen ethnic solidarity, Jia said during his five-day tour ending Monday to the southern Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
China has entered into a critical phase of opening up and reform, and it is a critical time for promoting growth, stability and transforming the development pattern in Guangxi, said Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
As Jia toured around vegetable farms and an industrial park, he asked local authorities to increase policy support to farmers and agriculture and enhance coordinated regional development.
He also urged the local authorities to implement the central government's supportive policy to small and medium-sized enterprises.
Guangxi should make full use of the opportunities brought by the China ASEAN Free Trade Area to expand trade and investment, Jia said.
