ZHENGZHOU - Almost 20 luxury cars and an honor guard of almost 100 gathered at the Zhengzhou railway station to welcome two Tibetan mastiffs, catching the attention of many passers-by on Tuesday afternoon.
The dogs were led by a woman holding up a welcome sign in front of the gate of China Railway Express at 16:30.
One member of the honor guard, Wang, said the two purebred male dogs were brought from Yushu county, Qinghai province, for breeding purposes.
Some citizens said the welcoming ceremony was too extravagant, after seeing the motorcade of luxury cars, comprising BMW, Mercedes Benz and Audi.
"I can't understand rich people nowadays. Although the two dogs are rare and worthy, they don't deserve such a lavish ceremony," said Cai, a citizen of Zhengzhou.
Another citizen, Han, said, "I don't think the ceremony is merely saying they'll have a breeding operation but putting on a dog show, to show off their money."
