Company lends hands to local farmers

The extremely low price of Chinese cabbage this year have become a troubling issue for farmers in Puyang, Henan.

According to a farmer surnamed Zhang, the wholesale price of Chinese cabbage is only 9 yuan ($1.44) for 50kg. "If I load a truck with 1500 kg cabbages, that's about a little more than a hundred yuan for me. Since I can not let them rot in the field, now I can only hope that I won't lose too much money," Zhang said.

The problem has attracted much attention. People are spreading the news on social medias like Weibo (Chinese twitter) to see if there are any solutions.

Zhengzhou Jinrong International Textile City sent trucks and bought 50,000kg of Chinese cabbage off the farmers' hands after hearing the news and will be giving them out for free for 4 days starting from Thursday.
