The signing ceremony was the first time for the two mascots of Beijing Expo --- Xiaomengya and Xiaomenghua -- to go outside, where they attracted many visitors eager to take photos.

At Beijing Expo’s booth at the ceremony, two flower arrangers -- Wang Suizhi (from Beijing) and Zhou Peihua (from Macao) -- used the two cities’ official flowers – the Chinese rose (Beijing) and the chrysanthemum and lotus (both Macao) – to present a work, titled Glory, celebrating win-win cooperation.

The expo is a professional exposition of the highest level (A1 Category) sponsored by the Beijing municipal government and organized by the Chinese government, with the approval of the International Association of Horticultural Producers and the permission of the Bureau of International Expositions. It will last for 162 days from April 2019 to Oct 2019, and is expected to welcome more than 100 official exhibitors (including countries and international organizations), more than 100 other exhibitors (domestic provinces, cities and enterprises in China and abroad) and more than 16 million visitors.
The theme of the expo is "Live Green, Live Better". It will urge people to "Integrate Nature into Gardening, Touch the Soul with Nature", to bring about "A New Level of World Horticulture and a New Model of Ecological Civilization."
