Yu said the Expo will focus on displaying a number of major core technologies independently researched and developed that are expected to take a leading role in China and the world. These high-tech products include the Yutu (Jade Rabbit) lunar rover, the Jiaolong (flood dragon) manned submersible, the 4,000 ton “Science” comprehensive research ship, the 4,500-meter level “Hippocampus” unmanned ROV, a floating offshore nuclear power plant, equipment for deep sea offshore oil and gas prospecting drilling, a large tonnage public service ship, and other technologies related to the fields of marine electronics and smart cities.
Additional original Chinese products will be put on display, such as China's first mid-low speed maglev express propulsion system with independent intellectual property rights that can be put into commercial operation — the “Changsha maglev express”.
The Expo will also serve such major national strategies as the“Belt and Road Initiative”and coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei areas to boost regional development and open cooperation. It will focus essentially on how new technologies, products and business formats such as artificial intelligence and “Internet+” can boost industrial restructuring and upgrading.
