Another member, Xin Lisheng, a senior aerospace engineer , serves his neighbors with his hobby — seal carving. His exquisite skills drew many fans to ask for his artwork, and he has carved more than 1,000 seals for free after retirement. He also gives a hand in book design and text composition.
"I don’t have some technical skills, such as mending bicycles and shaving hair, so I used my favorite hobby to serve my neighbors," Xin said.
The members said they enjoyed their lives in the Yungang community, which boasts good management and complete social services.
It offers lectures on health and publicizes knowledge on disasters, such as fire and earthquake. There is an education center which showcases the common tools of a fire emergency as well as a simulator device that offers people an opportunity to experience the tremors of various magnitudes, ranging from one to eight.
