Japanese soldiers killed Wang Gaihe's husband.
Wang Gaihe, who was born in Yu county, Shanxi province, in 1920, was widowed at the age of 24 when Japanese soldiers killed her husband, raped her and then held her prisoner.
"The first thing Japanese soldiers did after breaking in was to shoot my husband dead, then they threw themselves on me and raped me. When I resisted, they beat me with their guns until I passed out. I was raped even when I was unconscious."
