Cai Aihua managed to escape and hid in the deep forest.
Cai Aihua, born in Chengmai county, Hainan province, in 1926, was forced to become a "comfort woman" for the Japanese army at the age of 15. Later, she managed to escape and hid in the deep mountains until Japan surrendered in 1945. During this time, she nearly suffered a complete nervous breakdown.
"...I tried to resist but the Japanese soldiers put the bayonet on my throat and threatened to kill me. I got scared, and I gave up resisting."
