To help the audience fully appreciate the beauty of the erhu, Ma and Nubia Fierro, a cellist from the Mexican National Polytechnic Institute's symphony orchestra, performed together. Some of the ensembles were Western classics, like Aria Sul G and Chinese counterparts, such as Butterfly Lovers, Beautiful Night and Horse Racing on the Grassland. The audience was mesmerized by the changing and sweet melodies. Ma Xiaohui wore a traditional qipao that was pleasing to the eye and complemented her performance.

"As a musician, I'm responsible for promoting Chinese culture and impressing the world via my erhu playing. I will always be on a musical journey, to tell the Chinese story and spread Chinese charm, "Ma said in an interview after her speech.

For Ma, visiting a university is a breeze since her parents are college professors. Her father specializes in remote sensing and loves music. Thanks to her father's influence, Ma possesses an artist's and scientist's traits. In her own words, science and art are closely knitted. They both tout creativity, which makes life fresh and endearing.

The second speech on Friday at the National Polytechnic Institute was different, with Ma performing at the beginning of the event. The planned one-hour speech became two due to constant requests and questions from more than 200 teachers and students. Several spectators expressed their gratitude for the Chinese Culture Talk and appreciation for Ma.

Later today, the third speech will be given at the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
