Violin recital

South Korean violinist Shin Hyun-su will give a recital in Beijing with her Guadagnini, from one of the finest craftsmen of string instruments in history, with works including Beethoven's Romance Op 40, and Liszt's Valse-Caprice No 6. The 28-year-old violinist made her professional debut in 2009 after winning the top prize at Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud International Violin Competition.

SHANGHAI

Morrie onstage

Tuesdays with Morrie, a best-selling book by American author Mitch Albom, has been adapted for Chinese theater and will be presented by the Godot Theater company from Taiwan. The production won the White Magnolia Award of Shanghai in 2012.

Percussion show

Art beat in November

Ju Percussion Group from Taiwan will present a concert together with the Shanghai Symphony. Besides Western pieces such as Carnival Overture by Dvorak, the program highlights Chinese musicians' works, such as Marimba Concerto No 3: Notre-Dame de Paris by Lin Chi-cheng, and Festival Overture by Zhu Jian'er.
