BANGKOK - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and Interior Minister Charupong Ruangsuwan, both of whom were targeted in a censure debate in the House of Representatives, survived a no-confidence vote on Thursday.

Yingluck received 297 votes of confidence, or more than half of the total 438 votes, against 134 no-confidence votes.

The minister received 296 votes of confidence and 135 votes of non-confidence.

The voting came after a two-day censure debate from Tuesday to Wednesday.

Earlier this month, the opposition Democrats submitted a censure motion against Yingluck and Charupong.

They also filed an impeachment motion against the two and deputy Prime Minister Plodprasop Suraswadi for abusing power and violating laws.
