WASHINGTON - An accident involving 75 vehicles has killed 3 people in US state of Virginia, authorities said on Sunday.
According to Virginia's Department of Transportation, the pile up took place on southbound Interstate 77 at mile marker 6 in Carroll County, Virginia.
The accident location is just north of the North Carolina border in the Fancy Gap area. It took place at about 1:15 pm Sunday. According to the police, there was heavy fog at the time. The pile up killed 3 people and injured over 20.
The accident closed all lanes of the interstate, both north and south bound, as accident responders are using both directions to access the crash location. Motorists were being advised to seek alternate routes.
