When talking about British films, most people may think of the Harry Potter series or Bond films. But Beijing made a push this week to further promote British cinematography in its second British Film Week, which began on Dec 5.
The opening ceremony featured a presentation of “The Deep Blue Sea.” The film were chosen to provide a snapshot of lesser-known films. Wang Jing, director of “Fengshui” said, “British films are creative and dynamic, although they may not be as famous as Hollywood movies.”
British Film Week will feature seven recently released films including “Submarine” and “Wuthering Heights”, as well as digitally re-mastered versions of some older films. The festival will continue until Dec 16. Tickets are available at Broadway Cinematheque MOMA for 40 yuan each.
