BAGHDAD - Unidentified gunmen launched an attack on a police check post in Karma city of Iraq's western province of Anbar on Sunday, killing six police personnel and injuring two others, a local police source said.
The police official told Xinhua on condition of anonymity that the attackers fled the scene and no one has so far claimed responsibility.
Anbar province is branded as an insurgent hotbed in the Sunni- dominated region and the country has seen an increase of violence since the United States completed its troop withdrawal plan earlier this month.
