Designer duo win 1436 award

The young designer duo Shushu/Tong has won the annual scholarship from China's cashmere brand 1436. The cashmere company uses the award to encourage designers who use the natural fabric.
The designers, Shushu (Lei Liushu) and Tong (Jiang Yutong), both in their 20s, were classmates at Shanghai Donghua University and then went to the London College of Fashion for further studies. After graduating, they worked as interns at Simone Rocha and Gareth Pugh.
Italian designer Antonio Fontana was the head of the jury, which comprised professionals from both China and abroad.
Eve Cina highlights embroidery

China fashion brand Eve Cina released its 2018 spring/summer collection recently in Beijing. The company is engaged in promoting embroidery.
The new collection features needle work done by craftswomen from the Miao ethnic tribes from Southwest China's Guizhou province. Some of the women also displayed their work on the runway.
The inspiration for the collection also came from Chinese brush paintings and stamps.
Xia Hua, founder of the company and chief designer said that the idea of the show was a nostalgic trip to show life in the old days when people still wrote letters and worked with their hands.
Charity gala lights up China World Trade Center
China World Trade Center hosted a charity gala to kick off the festival season on Nov 21.
Artists from both home and abroad performed on the gala. China World Trade Center donated money to Orbis, an international nonprofit organization that fight against avoidable blindness. It is the fourth year that China World Trade Center has supported Orbis.
The mall is decorated with lights and flowers. The decorations of both the Christmas and Chinese New Year combine well. Restaurants present New Year menu and the book stores host family reading events.
The festival season will go on through March 3, 2018.
