Teo Tronico VS Roberto Prosseda
Date: June 14 - 7:30 pm
Venue: Beijing Concert Hall
Price: 160-280 yuan
Teo Tronico is a pianist-robot who plays the piano with considerable dynamic control and articulation, moving its 53 fingers with great accuracy and speed. It was presented in concert for the first time in March 2012 by pianist Robot Prosseda in a lecture-concert about the difference between reproduction and interpretation in music. Besides playing, Teo can talk, sing and make funny facial expressions. Thus Teo Tronico can interact with its interlocutors, even through his facial expressions. The debate on the role of the interpreter has been open for many decades. It has often been discussed how an interpreter can go towards a personal-creative-arbitrary interpretation of the score. This concert-challenge is intended to renew the piano recital format and to give the public more incentives for a conscious and participative listening.
