A world of sweets
2 The Kempinski Deli in Beijing wants to make sure dessert never gets boring. To that end, it's presenting Eat The World in 52 Desserts, a year-long program that features a new dessert each week, each from a different country. Recent offerings include tompouce, a twist on a Napoleon pastry that's a favorite in the Netherlands and neighboring Belgium, and gulab jamon, a delicious Indian version of donut balls served in a warm sweet rosewater syrup. Look for Philippine pandasol - a savory bun topped with shredded pork - in June, American red-velvet cake in July, Jamaica's coconut pastry gizzada in August, and Mexican spiced churros in the fall.
