The All-star games include a rookie game, where up-and-coming talent will show their power, and an All-Star Game where the best players in China will compete in a skill challenge, three-point shootout and slam dunk. It promises to be a great weekend for basketball fans.

Jiankou to Mutianyu Great Wall Christmas Hike

Beijing Hikers has been doing a Christmas Hike since 2004, and in 2014 the tradition continues! This year's event will be the scenic Jiankou to Mutianyu hike, and then head to a popular Mutianyu restaurant for a big lunch. The hike from Jiankou to Mutianyu is a favourite of many, a good tough hike with great views of the picturesque Great Wall. Parts of this hike are fairly difficult in the best of weather; during winter we may encounter some snow or ice on the trail - nice for photographs, but slippery underfoot, making this hike best suited for fit hikers with good hiking boots. After lunch, there is the annual dumpling-making contest, with prizes to be won. There is also a Christmas-y Great Wall hike on Dec 27, a Saturday. Time: 8:30 am departure from Lido Hotel Starbucks; Liangmaqiao subway area pickup at 8 am. Bookings through the website.
