Hundreds of people crowded onto the banks of the River Thames in London late on Wednesday to watch Tower Bridge turn gold celebrating Britain's first Olympic gold medals.
The bridge, one of London's most iconic sights, is illuminated by a multicolored light show every evening during the Games.
Officials have decided to mark every day that a Briton brings home a gold medal by switching the lighting system to pure gold for ten minutes at dusk.
