The International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee is located at the southwest corner of Muxidi Bridge. For the first time, netizens had an exclusive invitation to visit this top diplomatic agency.
Netizens who applied for invitations from some of the Chinese websites watched a video clip with a brief introduction to the history and development of the department.
Then they meet the representatives of the department, and discussed their work experience and the department's role in the Party's international endeavors. The department had opened to the public before, but this was the first time it was open exclusively to netizens.
During the talks, Sun Haiyan, the deputy director of the department’s Research Bureau, said the department has been trying to open up and become transparent.
Toward the end of the tour, the netizens were led to a conference room to witness a meeting between Li Jinjun, vice minister of the international department, and a delegation from the German parliament.
According to Li, the Communist Party of China now has contacts and relations with more than 600 political parties and organizations in 160 countries and regions around the world.
