[Aniwow! 2010] 5th China (Beijing) International Student Animation Festival

China (Beijing) International Student Animation Festival is authorized by the SARFT（State Administration Of Radio, Film And Television Of The People’s Republic Of China）and set in 2006. It is the first and also the only international student animation festival in China at present. Under the leadership of Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China, the SARFT（State Administration Of Radio, Film And Television Of The People's Republic Of China）and Beijing Municipal People’s Government, the festival is supported by Publicity Department Of Beijing Municipal Committee Of the CPC, China Communist Youth League Committee School Department, Beijing Municipal Commission of Education, CETV (China Educational Television), CTAA(China Television Artists Association), China Animation Association, ASIFA, ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee and many other momentous institutions. Since 2006, Aniwow, as a stage for young animators to show their presence and to fullfill their dreams has been successfully built and developed for nearly five years.

In 2010, the first year in a new era, the 5th China Beijing International Student Animation Festival is held in CUC from Oct 28–31 with the theme of "High Five" which means give me high five to celebrate the victory. The year of 2010 is the 5th birthday of [Aniwow!]. In the name of animation, young animators from all over the world get together, bringing the sparkles of creativities and wisdom, giving each other high five to share enthusiasm. We’ve got 5 year’s persistence for passion; 5 years' inheritance for spirit; 5 years' accumulation for the flourish! China Beijing International Student Animation Festival with its principle and characteristic of "Authoritative, Original, Academic and International" has attracted increasingly attentions from home and abroad. The vitality and passion of the festival have even attracted animation enthusiasts from five continents, as well as students and amateurs of new media.

Aniwow 2010 5th China Beijing International Student Animation Festival is again sponsored by Communication University of China and China Beijing Television Station, undertaken by Animation School of Communication University of China, Beijing KAKU Cartoon Satellite TV and Education Committe of China Animation Association. Moreover, cooperation from the Embassy of the Czech Republic, Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy, Cultural Affairs Department of the French Embassy, French Cultural Center, National Film Board of Canada, Korean Society of Cartoon and Animation Studies and HICDMA.COM ensures the festival a more extensive platform for comprehensive performance and multiple resources.

In accordance with the purpose of inspiring students' creativity and young animators' awareness of originality, Aniwow this year will keep on with traditional awards: White Poplar Award, ASIFA China Award, ACM SIGGRAPH Education Committee Prize for Excellent Student Work, Little White Poplar Award. The newly set the 1st Beijing Student Cartoon and Animation Design Competition, sponsored by Beijing Education committee, undertaken by Animation School of Communication University of China, is a mass practical activity for the undergraduates in the field of animation and cartoon design. The competition provides a platform to introduce advanced idea of animation education, meanwhile enhances international academic communication, as well as the education reformation in related majors, leading tertiary institution to lay more emphasis on cultivating innovation, practical ability, planning ability, organization and coordination ability, teamwork spirit, to arouse undergraduates' inspiration. The reformation of talent cultivation mode of animation, cartoon, and other related arts majors in tertiary institution provides conditions for cultivating more talents. HICDMA.COM as the first co-organizer, propels the communication of cartoon and animation works in the field of new media and introduces more talented young animators to the world by denominating the HICDMA.COM Awards for Cartoon and Animation for New Media.

In the meantime, Czech Special and French Special will present works from Czech and France up to the minute. The screening unit of Works from International Animation Festivals includes Award-winning works from SIGGRAPH Computer Animation Festival, Award-winning works from Anifest, Classic animation collection for 50 anniversary of Annecy International Animated Film Festival and Award-winning works from BAA. The unit of Student Works from International Colleges gathers from Sheridan, Goblins, School of Visual Arts, Bournemouth University, FAMU Czech Republic, Nanyang Technological University and so on, presenting worldwide young animators a feast for eye. Professors and authorities from numerous institutes such as the Double Negtiv(VFX company) from Britain, Nanyang Technological University from Singapore, Bournemouth University, Sheridan from Canada, the Ubitsoft from France, the NASDAQ:SNDA from Shanghai and the Hallym University from Korea will bring you the most advanced master classes, introducing the latest development in animation around the world, passing on superb animation skills, sharing the experience of success from first-rate works.
