Have you watched Avatar? How did you get your ticket? Have you been queuing up like this? It has been ten days since Avatar premiered in China and it is still the subject of people’s chit-chat. Just check out your MSN and count how many of your friends’ status are Avatar related.
The visual feast has definitely stirred up a whirlwind. Its box office takings worldwide have already surpassed $1.4 billion and it’s on course to beat Titanic, the highest-grossing film ever. Bet James Cameron just couldn’t hold back his laughter.
Avatar. Avatar. Avatar. 7 out of all the 9 houses of Shijingshan Wanda Cinema are screening Avatar. But the queue for tickets showed no sign of shortening. The either-to-watch-Avatar-with-IMAX-3D-format-or-not-to attitude of fans is what keeps lengthening the queue. Some would rather wait till next week than just watch it without a 3D illusion.
A ticket for IMAX 3D format Avatar costs 150 yuan. Even though, the tickets within the week were already sold out at Shijingshan Wanda Cinema on Wednesday afternoon. Unless you get up really early and arrive at the box office in time to get the few tickets left in the front rows, sorry, no IMAX 3D Avatar for you today.
This is the magic of Avatar, and of James Cameron, of course. What cannot be omitted is that Avatar’s successful promotion strategy has also contributed largely to the miracle of its box office. Why do you want to watch Avatar after all? Plot? Cast? Director? Friend’s recommendation? Or is it just the overwhelming ads and posters about its IMAX 3D feature that have successfully made you curious?
Whatever the reason, Avatar is one of the must-sees in 2010 without doubt. If you have an Avatar urge and have not watched it yet, move now!
