As post-typhoon rescue work goes on, mainland compatriots and overseas Chinese are donating cash and goods to support relief and rebuilding efforts in Taiwan.
This live charity show in Taiwan pulled in donations of 500-thousand New Taiwan Dollars. One-fifth came from enterprises on the Chinese mainland.
Taiwan authorities say economic losses from the disaster have topped 50-billion New Taiwan Dollars. Rebuilding what was washed away is a huge project. Across the Strait, there is a strong will to help on the Chinese Mainland.
The State Council's Taiwan Work Office said the Mainland is ready to provide relief materials and machines to Taiwan. These items include rescue helicopters, disinfectants, temporary houses, and instant food.
Factories on the Mainland are working around the clock, and the first set of temporary houses will be shipped out on Monday.
