A cremation ceremony has taken place for Zhuo Lin,widow of Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping. It was held at Beijing's Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery on Monday morning.
Zhuo was the widow of China's late leader, Deng Xiaoping, who set in motion China's economic reforms.
She passed away on July 29th, at the age of 93. Chinese President Hu Jintao, former President Jiang Zemin, Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee Wu Bangguo, Premier Wen Jiabao and other Chinese officials attended the ceremony.
Born in southwestern Yunnan Province in 1916, Zhuo Lin joined the CPC in 1938. She married Deng Xiaoping the following year. She accompanied and supported Deng Xiaoping for 58 years.
In January 1978, she was appointed a consultant of the Central Military Commission General Office.
In her last days, she urged her children to keep her funeral simple. Zhuo Lin chose to have her ashes scattered at sea, as her husband's were. She also asked to donate her cornea.
