First anniversary of the Games marked

On August 6, a music concert was held at Beijing Olympic Forest Park to commemorate the first anniversary of the Beijing Olympics.

The concert begins with the Olympic theme song “You and Me”, and continued with a speech made by Liu Qi, Beijing Olympic Committee President, transporting the audience back to the beautiful memories of a year ago, when the 2008 Olympic Games blew the whole world away.

Popular music stars joined the concert, as well as representatives of the 2008 Olympic volunteers, constructors and workers.

August 8 has been ruled by the State Council as the country's "National Fitness Day". Beijing has announced plans to open the Olympic Sports Center to the public on August 8 and a series of activities will be held this Saturday. The celebration will begin with a Tai Chi performance of more than 30,000 citizens in the early morning, which challenges the Guiness World Records. The Italian Super Cup between Inter Milan and Lazio will also be part of the activities to celebrate the first anniversary. It will be held at the Bird's Nest later of the day.
