The supply of vegetables, meat and other daily necessities is abundant and prices have gradually returned to previous levels after a steep spike. Seventy percent of stores in Urumqi have reopened for business. Local authorities have taken many measures to encourage more shops to reopen.
Zhang Junxiang, director of Urumqi Commerce Bureau, said, "We have sought subsidies to help business survive. We have cut down their taxes. We are searching for more preferential measures."
