A week has passed since the July 5th riot in Urumqi. The Local Civil Affairs Administration is busy working for the victims.
Mo Juan, Party Secretary Urumqi Municipal Civil Affairs Admin., said, "We sent more than 300 people immediately after the turmoil occurred. They are responsible for taking care of dead bodies, their funerals and other related matters. We have also met with thousands of relatives of the dead and injured since July 5th."
Guo Hongqiang, Director Urumqi Funeral Service Center, said, "We didn't sleep on July 5th and 6th, we were working day and night because there were lots of work to do. And many of us haven't gone back home for days. All of us feel a heavy responsibility for our job."
Donating to the families of the victims is another way for workers at the funeral parlour to show support. They are sending their condolences to the victims and their relatives.
Zhou Junlin, Deputy Head, Urumqi Municipal Civil Affairs Admin., said, "We gave each victim's family ten-thousand yuan before the funeral. And then, we will give each of them 200,000 yuan for compensation after all the necessary work is done."
Victims' families want their loved ones rest in peace. They know they must look to the future, which is the best way to remember the dead.
