Local residents in Urumqi, the capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region have volunteered to donate blood in an effort to help those who were injured in the deadly riot on Sunday.
Workers from the Blood Center say the three blood collecting sites in Urumqi are ready to accept donors.
In the blood donation house, many local residents have gathered. They were registering, being screened, and donating their blood.
Among them, one college student donated more than 400 milliliters of blood at one time.
A blood donor said, "I want to contribute my share. And we should strongly resist the minority of separatists."
"A large number of innocent residents were hurt. Social stability and ethnic unity among all ethnic groups in China is in the best interest of all Chinese. I can not imagine how they could act like this. We will never let them succeed."
The deadly riot in Urumqi on Sunday left at least 156 dead and over a thousand others injured.
