The Urumqi Diwopu International Airport in the capital city of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has taken steps to guarantee the safety of passengers, in response to the deadly riot that occurred in the city.
The airport has initiated its emergency response plan. More security check-points have been added to prohibit combustible items from being taken onto planes. The police in the airport have been on high alert around the clock. They have also stepped up patrols in the passenger waiting areas and parking lots. Road traffic at the main entrance to the airport is being monitored to guarantee airport and passenger safety. The flights of the Diwopu airport have not been affected due to the effective measures.
