Rescue and relief operations are underway following the strong earthquake that hit China's Tibet Autonomous Region ten days ago. The arrival of relief supplies has helped people in the disaster-hit region to continue their daily lives.

This village in Geda township was one of the hardest hit regions when last week's powerful earthquake struck Tibet.

Tents were distributed by central and local governments and now serve as shelters for over 170 households whose homes collapsed in the disaster.

And all of the some 300 students from a local primary school have also been moved into tents to continue their studies.

In their temporary classrooms, relief supplies such as quilts help the students cope with the cold air on the plateau.

There were no casualties in this school, thanks to a timely and orderly evacuation.

The 6.6-magnitude quake that struck Dangxiong County on October 6th, left 10 people dead and 54 injured. More than 61,000 people have been affected.

The central government has allocated 10 million yuan as well as tents, quilts, and other relief supplies to the quake-hit areas.
