WARSAW - Polish security services are ready for Euro 2012, Interior Minister Jacek Cichocki told a related Sejm special commission here on Thursday, adding that there were no signals indicating possible terrorist threats during the tournament.
Cichocki and Sport and Tourism Minister Joanna Mucha presented to the commission security measures undertaken in connection with the forthcoming 2012 European Football Championships.
The Interior Minister said that he put a special stress on the role to be played by security services including the Internal Security Agency (ABW) and the Anti-Terrorism Center.
"May 15 is the final deadline for all services under the Interior Ministry to achieve full readiness before Euro 2012," Deskur said, adding that a security committee will meet on the matter in coming days.
Deskur also reported progress in preparing an operations center in the Warsaw suburb Legionowo. Over 170 Polish and foreign police officials will guide the centre during the championships.
Euro 2012, taking place from June 8 to July 1, will be co- hosted by Poland and Ukraine in eight cities. The matches will be staged in Poland's Warsaw, Wroclaw, Poznan, Gdansk and Ukraine's Kiev, Lvov, Kharkov and Donetsk.
The mudslide occurred at an iron ore mine in the Araltobe township of Xinyuan county, Ili Kazak autonomous prefecture, a spokesman for the prefecture's fire brigade said.
