BEIJING - A senior leader on Wednesday called on the country's citizens to learn from the "unyielding spirit" displayed by Chinese athletes who competed in the 2012 London Paralympics.
Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during a meeting with the athletes' delegation.
Li described the Paralympics as "a stage for the handicapped to display their strong will," adding that Chinese athletes set multiple records at this year's games.
"The spirit of the disabled delegation will inspire all Chinese people to overcome difficulties," he said.
China won 95 gold, 71 silver and 65 bronze medals at the London Paralympics.
