Wang Qingsong, who is 96 years old now, is a veteran of Tai’erzhuang Battle. He attended Tai’erzhuang Battle 76 years ago. Wang cannot speak any more now for sickness. His son told us details about the Tai’erzhuang Battle.

In the afternoon of March 24, 1938, my father’s troop arrived near Tai’erzhuang South Station. The battle started as soon as the sun rose, and it lasted for more than one month. One of the most horrifying battles was when my father’s troop fought for the canal outside the northwest gate of Tai’erzhuang. Some soldiers had to jump into the canal and in the end they even didn’t have any bullets. In that circumstance, my father had to fight against the Japanese with a bayonet, and he became deaf in this battle because of the blasting.

Wang Qingsong always has deep feelings for Tai’erzhuan. He once told his wish: to put his bone ash into the Tai’erzhuang Battle Memorial Hall after his death, since there buries his unforgettable memories and is like his home to return.
