A display of jinsi nanmu furniture is underway. Nanmu was often used for woodwork in ancient times, because of its resistance to decay and smooth texture.
The wood has a polished shimmering surface and is termed jinsi, which literally means gold threads. The exhibition presents nine furniture items from the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, as well as several new creations.
9 am-5 pm, until Dec 28. National Museum of China, east of Tian'anmen Square, 16 East Chang'an Avenue. 010-6511-6400
