Three-dimensional (3D) street painting, also known as pastel drawing or pavement drawing, is a classical Italian style of art which can be traced back to the 16th century and was used by Leonardo Da Vinci.
Later in the 17th century it became an independent new form of Popular Art which had widely spread throughout European countries. The style experienced a boom in the following century.
Impressionism artists developed it further, giving full play to its artistic expressive force. However, the style was gradually forgotten until 1973, when a street artist was invited to creative street paintings for a church.
The most recent development in pavement art is interactive pavement art, which are large-scale paintings that invite members of the public to pose with them.
