Zhengzhou has used segregation to combat harassment on public transport. The real issue is why a few disgusting men are allowed to behave like this. Is this the way to tackle this issue? Discriminatory laws rarely work and often cause more problems than they solve.
In the west there are fewer "men only" clubs in the interests of equality of the sexes, yet there is value in a place for women to chat and socialize with each other (apart from the restrooms), and value in places where men can do the same. This is not segregation, and certainly not a means of safeguarding people from idiots.
Tackle the hard problems instead of taking the easy way around them.
I’ve lived in China for quite a considerable time including my graduate school years, travelled and worked in a few cities and still choose my destination taking into consideration the density of smog or PM2.5 particulate matter in the region.
