The fifth China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue in Washington is an important step after President Xi Jinping's earlier meeting with US President Barack Obama in California, said an article in the 21st Century Business Herald (excerpts below).
The dialogue covers global and regional issues and is conducive to eliminating misunderstanding.
Both countries are making efforts to restructure their economies and the US on three occasions has promised to lift restrictions on trading technology.
The US also sets high barriers for investment from China. Yet, the US has invested in almost every sector in China.
Such unbalanced trade is unfair.
The US insists that China must do business in an American way, rather than a fair and equal way. As China's dependence on exports decline, China will have a bigger say on trade and investment topics.
