Several ministerial-level officials are reportedly under investigation as the new leaders apply an iron hand in fighting corruption, says an editorial in Beijing News (excerpts below).
Li Daqiu, a vice-ministerial level official in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, is under investigation, according to reports.
He is only one of several senior officials that have come under anti-corruption investigation since the 18th Party Congress. This is the first time in decades that so many senior officials were investigated over corruption.
That best explains what Party chief Xi Jinping, said in January: "Fight both the flies and tigers (in the anti-corruption campaign)." Actually, corruption of the latter, namely senior officials, is often more covert due to the power they have.
The fight against corruption will be long and arduous, and requires the government to better cooperate with ordinary citizens and be true to its duty.
Only with combined efforts can the people's trust be honored.
