A Huadeng Opera named In the Mountain premiered in Yunnan on Oct 13,leaving its audience greatly touched.
The opera tells a story from the World Anti-Fascist War. Mu Ran, a lad of the Lishu ethnic group of Yunnan, asked his comrade Luo Haiting to take a letter to his lover when he was dying. Ten years later, Luo finally escaped from the Golden Triangle and took the letter to Yi Luo, Mu’s lover.
Nearly two years were spent on creating the opera. Its director, Xiong Yuanwei, is a famous artist and drama educator in China.
The costumes, light and music were fused together harmoniously by many experts from the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts and other famous institutions in China.
The opera will tour in different areas of Yunnan province and be staged 40 times.
Huadeng Opera, a famous local opera in Yunnan, has a 200 year history.
