One hundred and six cultural creative items featured in Yunnan's cultural object design contest are now being manufactured.
The 106 products won the competition's preliminary appraisal at the end of June.
The deadline for handing in product samples is July 30. The assessment panel will then decide the first, second and third prizes. An awards ceremony will be held as part of the product exhibition to be staged in the Yunnan Provincial Museum. The samples and part of their design plans will also be put on display.
The competition's sponsors intend to market some outstanding products. Consequently, visitors to the museum will be able to buy those objects and realize their dream of “bringing the museum home”.
The activity is to respond to the central government's call to raise China's cultural soft power by “livening up” cultural relics, heritages and attention to the qualities of ancient works.
The creative cultural object design contest was planned in December 2015 and launched in April this year.
The sponsors chose 60 collections of the Yunnan Provincial Museum as reference points for the participants. They had received 1,474 design plans by July 18.
The products are household items such as USB flash disks, biscuits, cups and table lamps.
Some competitors visited the museum to get a detailed idea of the cultural objects.
The sponsors said the contest not only intends to gather good designs but also to attract more visitors to learn more about the relics' history.
