The fifth Yunnan Science Association annual meeting is being held at Yunnan’s Zhaotong city from Nov 2 to 3, ynci.cn reported.

This year’s meeting is focused on the economic development of the Wumengshan Mountain region and the Yangtze River economic belt. It will incorporate keynote speeches, panel discussions, and field visits.

The annual meeting was co-sponsored by the Yunnan Science and Technology Association and the Zhaotong Municipal Government.

The sponsors invited experts from home and abroad to discuss the industrial advantages of the Wumenshan Mountain region, and the feasibility of its economic development modes.

Lai Yongliang, vice chairman of the Yunnan Science Association, noted at the meeting’s opening ceremony that the association hopes to serve the development of the region and the construction of the Yangtze economic belt by combining science and innovative technology with a sound economy.

A report will be compiled based on the discussions at the meeting to serve as a reference for the economic and social development of Zhaotong city and the entire Yunnan province.
