Yunnan promotes Sino-Indian cultural communication

Chinese and Indian art exchanges and dance teaching activities were held in Yunnan Art University in Kunming, Yunnan province on June 13.

The Chinese and Indian artists along with more than 100 students and teachers from Yunnan's universities took part in the activities.

During the event, the artists from Indian "ICC" art troupe impressed the audiences with unique Indian instruments and mask dance. While, students from Yunnan Art University performed Chinese national folk dances including those featuring Uygur, Tibetan and Yi ethnic group elements.

Many students actively joined the on-the-spot teaching to learn Chinese and Indian dances.

"The art activities were held to promote Sino-Indian cultural communication and to contribute bilateral economic and art exchanges," said Huang Yingling, vice-chairman of the Yunnan Provincial Culture and Literature Association, which jointly organized the event with Indian embassy in China.

Huang also mentioned that the event is expected to help Chinese young people better understand Indian culture.

The Sino-Indian dance performance was also staged on Kunming Dianchi Convention and Exhibition Center, where the 3rd China-South Asia Expo is going on from June 12 and will last till 16. The art show, is one of the parts of 2015 China-South and Southeast Asia Arts Week.
