Yunnan releases third list of intangible cultural heritages

Yunnan province released its third list of provincial intangible cultural heritages. A total of 90 items made the list, including Jindian Temple Fair, Bai's Three Courses of Tea, Zhaotong Sauce-Making Skills and Jiqingxiang Ham Moon Cake Making Skills.
Since the declaration and assessment of representative projects for the list of third provincial intangible cultural heritages, the Intangible Cultural Heritage Committee of Yunnan carefully reviewed 269 declared intangible cultural heritages.
After rigorous auditing by the leading groups; publicity of the recommended list; and suggestions from provincial departments like the national department, Chinese traditional medicine department and physical education department, the third list of provincial intangible cultural heritages of Yunnan was confirmed and announced with the government's approval.
The list of expansion projects of provincial intangible cultural heritages was also released with a total of 36 projects. To date, there are a total of 361 projects of Yunnan provincial intangible cultural heritages.
As a traditional cultural expression, intangible cultural heritages are closely related to people’s lives and have great significance to the inheritance of the nation's outstanding traditional culture heritage, protecting the cultural diversity and inspiring the creativity of people of all ethnic groups.
People in Kunming go to Xishan to walk on the third day of the third month of the lunar calendar. They may climb mountains and pray to the gods. These activities are now called "Activities on the Third Day of the Third Lunar Month in Xishan."
Jindian Temple Fair has a history of over 300 years. Every year over hundreds of thousands of Kunming people go to Jindian to attend the temple fair on the eighth to tenth of the first month of the lunar year. Bai's Three Courses of Tea is offered by the Bai ethnic minority to treat distinguished guests. It is well known for its unique flavor integrating bitter and sweet.
