Wudang ranks as top 10 destination in China

According to a list of the top 10 destinations, Wudang was the fifth best place to visit during the Labor Day holiday in China, as chosen by AutoNavi, a provider of digital map content and location-based solutions in China. Wudang was the only place in Hubei province to have entered the list.

The list was compiled based on the search volume statistics of attractions in the country through AutoNavi's mapping apps. Wudang Mountains were reported to have welcomed 107,700 tourists during the holiday weekend, resulting in tourism revenues of 65.03 million yuan ($10.48 million). Tourism numbers and revenue were up 4.25 and 5.81 percent respectively compared to the previous year.

Wudang Mountains consist of a small mountain range in the northwestern region of Hubei province. They have been listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1994 and hold the highest national tourism award as a national AAAAA scenic spot. Wudang Mountains attract tourists from all over the world every year.

For centuries, Wudang Mountains have been known as an important center of Taoism and are especially famous for the Taoist versions of martial arts and Taichi. Wudang Mountains are alo well-known for the combination of natural beauty and cultural scenery. Moreover, they are renowned for magnificent ancient buildings, profound traditional Taoist culture and Wudang kungfu.
