Wudang Mountains named as 2014 Hubei Provincial Ecological Town

Wudang Mountains was included in the 2014 Hubei Provincial Ecological Town list, as released by the Hubei Environmental Protection Bureau on Feb 7.
Wudang Mountains has made remarkable progress on improving the urban environment and protecting the ecological environment in the year of 2014.
A total investment of 100 million yuan ($16 million) was made, going towards improving the urban environment, regulating market operation order, maintaining parking order and standardizing construction sites and facility management along Taihe Ave. The investment has also helped to clean up the masses of disused unhygienic angling equipment and re-plan the placement of trash cans along the main street.
Wudang has made growing efforts to protect the ecological environment it and hopes to achieve a balance between protection and development. It has put 8.1 million yuan ($1.3 million) aside to carry out ecological projects, including the protection rural sources of drinking water, wastewater treatment, garbage collection and environmental protection promotion. The border trees along the main road, the landscape forests along the Hanshi Highway, and other greening work, all contribute to the beautiful scenery and fresh air of Wudang Mountains and serve as a "green screen" for them.
